Marvel Studios Hires New Writer for Guardians of the Galaxy

Heat Vision is reporting that Chris McCoy will rewrite the script for Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy. The first draft of the script was written by Nicole Periman.

Marvel Studios revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con that the film's team will include Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Racoon and Gamora.

Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled to hit theaters on August 1, 2014. It will be preceded by Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in theaters April 4, 2014.

The trade says that McCoy's "scripts have been praised for their quirky comedic bent."
